The port of Catania (CTA)

is an artificial port, whose current structure dates back to the last century.

With an almost essentially commercial traffic, in recent decades it has become a destination for industrial vehicle ferry lines,which connects the port at the foot of Mt Etna with those of Central and Northern Italy, thus allowing heavy vehicles, but also lighter ones (cars), to bypass the Salerno-Reggio Calabria.

Recently, cruise ships and ferries have become frequent tenants, thus also implementing but also for being a frequent destination for ships that deal with passenger traffic.
